Vegan Smoothie Bowl and Lattes at Tarabelle Coffee Eats in Bali

Vegan Smoothie Bowl and Lattes at Tarabelle Coffee Eats in Bali

If you’re looking for vegan food near Uluwatu in Bali, Tarabelle Coffee Eats needs to be on your list. My tropical smoothie bowl was the perfect fuel before a morning surf session, and the latte art was almost too pretty to drink.

What I Ordered

The tropical smoothie bowl (55k IDR, about $3.67) had a base of frozen mango, bananas, and coconut milk blended together, topped with fresh mango, strawberries, mint, house-made granola, and chia seeds. It was refreshing and light but still filling enough to power me through a few hours of paddling and catching waves. Exactly what you want before getting in the water.

We both got hot lattes, and mine came with the cutest little foam bunny that I genuinely did not want to ruin by drinking it. They offer coconut, almond, oat, and soy milk for less than a $1 upcharge, which is way better than most coffee shops back home.

Why This Spot Is Worth It

This was one of those meals that just hit right. Not too heavy, full of real fruit, and affordable. If you’re surfing in Uluwatu or exploring the southern Bali coast, this is the kind of place you want to start your morning.

I personally don’t like eating anything too heavy before a surf or workout. Sometimes I don’t eat at all beforehand if I had a big meal earlier. But when I do eat, something like this smoothie bowl is ideal: enough carbs to fuel your brain and body without weighing you down.

And a reminder that carbs are not the enemy. Our brains literally run on glucose. If you’re focused on hitting your protein goals (which you should be as a vegan), don’t forget that healthy carbohydrates are just as important for performing at your best.

FAQ

Is Bali good for vegan food? Bali is one of the best destinations in the world for vegan travelers. Especially in areas like Ubud, Canggu, and Seminyak, you’ll find dedicated vegan restaurants, smoothie bowl shops, and cafes everywhere. Even in the more surf-focused areas like Uluwatu, spots like Tarabelle make it easy to eat plant-based.

What should I eat before surfing? Something light and carb-rich works best. A smoothie bowl with fruit, granola, and coconut milk gives you energy without feeling heavy in the water. Avoid anything too high in fat or fiber right before a session.

Is it expensive to eat vegan in Bali? Not at all. Most smoothie bowls and vegan meals in Bali range from $3-8. Lattes with non-dairy milk are usually under $4. Eating vegan in Bali is actually one of the more affordable ways to eat well.
